March-ing into April

Can’t believe it is the end or March now. Before entering into April, this shall be my post of this month.

Many things happened… from personal life to serving in ministries and to work. How little of time I have in a day and yet some use for meaningless purposes. Many wishes I have made to have more time and now looking back, I wonder what will I do and make use of this time.

Many funs, laughters and good body aches…

Many lessons learnt… my weaknesses that makes me strong and show me that my strength alone is not enough for spiritual battles… planning, responsibility, appreciating whatever there is and my level of disciplin.

and…

Many chances, reminders, mercies and blessings from Him that I have taken for granted.

Thank you…

Happy Chinese New Year!

Happy Chinese New Year to all Chinese. May you be filled with a piggiful joyful year and prosperity

Went to Penang to visit my relatives. Just to escape the routine visiting around, my parents and my cousin and me went to Penang island to visit my friends (Ken S’ng and Andrea - Thanks for taking me around the island!) and also check out few great places. Among them are the Cheong Fatt Tze mansion (with my parents and cousin) and Snake Temple (with my Penang friends). Wanted to visit Khoo Kongsi but due to lack of time and the need of good food for lunch, we skipped that. Shall made a visit there next time!…

Enjoy the pictures.

AGE 4

AGE 4 was held in Bayu Beach, Port Dickson on 3 February 2007 to 4 February 2007. I was there as part of the organizing committee, photographer and also as part of the LTP community.

What is AGE 4 and LTP, you ask?

LTP is a group of community that “graduate” from a Leadership Training Programme (there’s where the word LTP came from) facilitated by D’Jungle People. LTP community gives back to the community as a group by helping out or visiting the orphanage, old folks home, SPCA and etc.

AGE 4 is the acronym for for Annual Gathering Event and the 4 means this is the forth gathering. This gathering is not only the gathering of the LTP community and D’Jungle People but also open to others as well - friends of LTP members.

This year, AGE 4 is held as a telematch as part of one group competing with one another and a dinner with a time of sharing of their memorable moments.

Before the telematch, a 30 minutes ice-breaking is conducted by Khim, Marvin and Alicia.

The participants of AGE 4 is grouped to 5 groups and each group would need to complete all 6 games.

Telematch ends pretty quick than expected. That’s great though as later we had alot of time for 2 matches of captain ball.

Time pass pretty quick here. Blink Blink… and the next thing is dinner time. Dinner was great - a time to know others and to fill the stomach with great food, got lamb chop, chicken wing, otak-otak, pudding and much more.

Then a time of sharing conducted by Marvin. Each representative of different LTP came up and share their memorable, mostly funny times of what their LTP group did. The dinner ended with prize giving ceremony for the best scoring team of the telematch (Group consisting of a girl and 4 guys) and the winner of captain ball (represented by Woon Tian).

The night didn’t end there at the dinner place or back to room. We went back to the beach till 1.30am. Sat there, continue talking in a group and ghost story time.

That wraps up the 2 days. No.. that’s not it… there’s AGE 5! See you there!

SUFES Tapah Campsite Visit

Geri and I visited SUFES Tapah Campsite 2 weeks ago, on a Saturday (20 Jan 2007). The reason for visit is to check out the camp site, get some photos for publicity, time estimation and cost of journey.

We left at 8.30am… or somewhere around there. Was lost looking for Geri’s house. Hahaha! Lost in Subang Jaya, to be specific Lost in SS17. Gave up looking and end up giving her a call to figure out how to get to her place. Our journey there from Subang took about 1 hour and 45 mins. Going there doesn’t feel long but coming back does.

Upon arrival we met Mr. Ramu, the caretaker of the campsite that time. Not too far from him, a welcoming party was there too!… the 2 puppies, barking and wagging their tails.

Don't get lost The welcoming party

The hall looks great. Should be big enough for about 80 people to fit in. However couldn’t find any PA system there (Heard that they will prepare one for us when we are there). Rooms and dorms looks alright to me but this room with 3 bed per bunkers looks scary though. Toilet looks bearable :D

Hall Dorm Dorm Toilet

The best part is actually outside of the hall and dorms. It is back to basic and nature that make this place worthy. Was surprise to find an obstacle course there. Got quite some chun stuff to play with. Climbed some wall-obstacle-thing that I have no idea what the name is - slippery… so be careful! What really surprise me was the this rope-hanging-thing where one run, jump and get a grip on the rope, swing to the other side and let go. Imagine the someone accidentally let go of the rope or perhaps didn’t get the grip…. SPLASH!… that would be fun to see and captured! but a total ouch for that person.

Stream The Bridge Obstacle Course Obstacle Course Obstacle Course Obstacle Course

What’s better when come to accomodation is the tent site and pavilions. Notice a picture with some rockish-sandy-rectangular-area, that’s where the tent is set up. The pavilion looks cool too, but was wondering what is the shower doing right outside the pavilion… bathing with nature perhaps. heheh… :P Saw the toilet but didn’t check out the inside of it.

Tents Location Pavilions Pavilions Outside Toilet

The ampitheatre looks cool! Reminds me of my university lecture hall, just that this is open-air.

Amphitheatre Amphitheatre

One of the path looks awesome. The stream looks awesome too! Looks like I found a good place for some photo shooting.

Path to Dining Place Another Stream, actually the same as the before…

The makan place looks really plain though. Well… it’s a makan place after all, what’s there to expect. Guess it can also be the outside hall for gathering as next to it, there’s a plain field.

The dining hall The basins

I guess most campsite can’t escape from facilitating themselves with a field and a playground. Yes… there is a playground… so for those who want to return to their kiddy times, enjoy! but don’t spoil it yeah!

Field Playground

That’s the end of SUFES Tapah Campsite.

We heard from Collene that there is some waterfall nearby, so we headout to look for it. Then we came to this place called Kuala Woh. Very very nice. Upon reaching there, it looks rather plain though, nothing attractive… not until when you walk in deeper. It’s like a whole new world… Definitely a great place for picnic, rest and some small activities.

It was noon by end of the visit. Lunch time!.. Geri brought me to this place in Bidor… a restaurant well known for their duck noodle! It’s really good!… love the herbal soup!… superb!

Went home after lunch. Gotta thank God for the weather! It didn’t rain when we went there, good time to visit and explore the place. It only rain after lunch… all in good timing. :D

Trip to STM & Seremban

Nope.. It’s not another version of SPM. :P It is an abbreviation for Seminari Theoloji Malaysia (name of a place… noun… kata nama khas).

I went to STM on 26 August 2006 for a camp site visit - go there, took pictures… lotsa pictures… just to share with the TRU how does STM looks like in the month of September. hmm… nothing is as good as going there and see with your own pair of eyes. The weather was good too! Departed from Subang at about 8am. The journey took about an hour. Then met up with Uncle Chan (one of the STM staff), he was my tour guide. Very nice of him to bring me around, showing me how the place looks like… the hall… the room… the toilets…

He was elaborating in cantonese… and me being a banana who is able to understand but not able to “really reply” back. I just go “ahh.. yea…” and any questions… well… I did attempt to converse back in cantonese but it’s just bad! Yea.. just imagine it.

After the tour session, then it was photo session… took as many pictures I could. Spent bout an hour just taking pictures.

After the whole visit, gave Cow Yuan a call as she lives in Seremban and asked her out for lunch. She’s a very nice person!.. actually made time despite the need to clean up her own house. Another tour guide of the day; that is around Seremban town. She brought me to this place, famous for their “hakka mee” but the shop had just open their door but not open for business yet… so we made a detour to a shop selling…

Siew Pau Siew Pau

Seremban’s Siew Pau! Yes… Seremban.. famous for their Seremban Siew Pau. Bought quite alot of Siew Pau-s and other varieties of “siew-pastries” for makan at home later of the day. Then back to the shop… still not open for business yet. So this is what we did! more photo session…

Parrot Parrot Parrot

Yes… pictures of parrots! There is this bird shop next to the famous Hakka mee shop and there were three parrots in front of the shop. Beautiful feathers… and one could talk!

Instead of waiting for that shop to open, we went to the market place and had hakka mee there. Still taste good to me! I’m still lack of experience to know what makes the best hakka mee taste… look… and feel like… any guidelines anyone?

hakkaMee

Hey Cow Yuan, if you’re reading this… thanks! you made the whole trip to Seremban enjoyable… the time of fellowship and everything else!

It was rather dreadful to travel alone to Seremban and doing the visit just to capture pictures. But yea… things needed to be done and it shall be done. With that too… it has sharpen my photography skills in some ways… although it is still far from those pro-photographer ;)

Prayer shown by Elijah…

Prayer is not a forceful battering on the doors of heaven persuading God to do what we want, but an expression of our confidence in God.

A blessed weekend…

It could have been the worst weekend as I would need to wake up early at 5am on Saturday after dealing with my diarrhoea. I was tempted to call Cow Yuan to inform her that I will not be joining them for the HeadStart retreat. Yes…the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. Was it the the word “retreat” that somewhat made me to push on to attend? or was it the little message in my mind telling me to hang on, get some rest now and be ready tomorrow. As being one of the drivers to drive up to GraceHill Lodge, Bukit Tinggi in the initial plan, I know that I’m not in a well condition to drive… thank you Carol for driving! (She’s a law abiding person! I would recommend her to be your extra instructor after you receive your driving licence).

GraceHill Lodge GraceHill Lodge

Our last “official” meeting in this retreat is certainly different from the other meetings we had before… not that the previous meeting brings no significance to me, they had triggered many thoughts in my head. Personally to me, this was somewhat different as there was a calling to make time for reflection as I’ve not been doing that for a long time. The best thing was the type of reflection to do called the “timeline”. I use to reflect on days before the current days itself, perhaps a little further to months. This is different as it is a reflection from the day one individual to come into this world till the current time of reflection. The guidelines itself has triggered many things that’s been hidden in some lost part of my mind and so as bringing back the past memories that’s been sad and happy and how God’s blessings has been showered throughout the years.

HeadStart Group HeadStart Group
HeadStart Group HeadStart Group

I believe that God’s plan is the best for every believers of Him whether if it is a good news or bad news. His timing and His plans and His work is perfect in every ways. What touched me was His unfailing love and His calling to His children to come back to Him when they have took their own desired path regardless how far they have gone. I believe that this HeadStart group meetings has been one of His way to show me His works on others through their sharing and get me back right on track.

HeadStart Group HeadStart Group

Arriving Subang at about 4pm was tiring and sad to me as the journey of this HeadStart meeting has reach the last chapter of the book “Following Jesus in the Real World” by Richard Lamb. As Cow Yuan and the others put it, it is the end of our meeting as a HeadStart group but our journey together is just a start.

As I thought the retreat and everything in the meeting itself would make a blessed weekend but I was wrong. It’s not till later I got a call from Iishan (during my 20 mins nap) to join some of the youths for Ultimate Frisbee. Thought perhaps I should decline and get some sleep but this little message in my head telling me to go for it. The end of the frisbee game was the best in the evening as we have a little talk on bringing in TRU TV.

Nothing more that I could ask for…

To Agnes, Shireen and Eric… we miss you there! :D Lets have another meet up next time as a catching up session.
